During 2020 I was lucky, despite the Corona situation, to stay 8 months in Norway (I have an Dutch passport). In previous years I was getting used to stay many months in Norway/Spitsbergen, but now, with Corona, it was kind of special.
For people who donīt know me: I am guiding active winter- and summervacations in Norway, mostly for people from the Netherland's, for more then 30 years now.

In the half of February 2020 (before Corona started in Europe) I was in Norway enjoying the snow and for guiding some cross country ski-tours. That changed rapidly when Norway closed their borders in the beginning of March. Luckely for me, after explaining my situation with the local Norwegian police, I was allowed to stay in Norway in the area where I was at the moment: Rondane.
So, as also the Norwegians where restricted to travel at that time in their country, my Corona Bubble for the first 2 months was inside Rondane National Park, an area I knew very well.

In these 8 months I went out on outdoor trips and collected about 3000Gb data with video's/pictures taken with my 4k GoPro, 4k Yuneek drone and 2 hd Olympus camera's. Normally I always take my time to make pictures, but now I have all the time to do these things. Nobody has to wait when I was making pictures/video's because, due to Corona, I was mostly all the time on my own.

I went out on Ski-tours with pulk/tent or slept in a snowcave, making many white water kayaktrips, riverboardtrips, mountain walking trips, pack raft trips, biking trips, sea-kayak trips and took my special "KayakRaft" out on the river. Because I had the time for myself I also went out on some multi days "complicated" combined trips of using my sea-kayak/skiīs/white water kayak/ packraft/bike/mountain boots together on the same trip. Placing my tripod (or self made tripod) on good places to capture my activity and the Norwegian Nature.

All my activities take place ouside so I needed to plan (or wait) my activities who needed good weather, but sometimes this didnīt worked out as planned (weather change), This all can be seen in the videoīs. As an example Norway was blessed this winter with a lot of snow but also strong winds, building up to a huge storm on Monday night March 23th (I will always remember this day). And, due to Corona, all the DNT mountain where closed, so escaping the strong winds in these cabins was not possible. But the big amount of snow did give good water levels in the rivers during the whole summer, sometimes to much when it was raining and the waterlevels reached high levels.

Now on this webpage first some photo compilations with some of my activities during these 8 months, and then the video compilations with the explanation what I was doing each day. These videoīs will be uploaded 1 or 2 times every week. So please come back regulary for new updates.
After these 8 months I will start to describe my Spitsbergen trips from the beginning in 2006. Since then I collected there more then 700 nights outside in the Spitsbergen arctic nature doing all kind of summer- and winter outdoor activities. I did many exceptionally trips there.

I posted some photo compilations on You Tube with activities that I did during those 8 months in Norway. Almost all of these photos are "stills" of video images. For the next 8 months I will post a number of videos with the stories on this website every week.
In the coming months I will occasionally show some Spitsbergen photos on my website, to arouse interest among the visitors of my website.The activities that I show are not extreme but show various outdoor activities in beautiful Norwegian landscapes.
