News about this trip.

May 2010 :The start of this expedition will be in August 2010, it is getting closer!

June 2010 :Working on a removable construction in a sledge to charge a 12 volt battery.
I will use the rearwheel of a bicycle with the chain and pedals.
Two small electric DC motors driven by the rearwheel will charge the battery.
It will take many.....many hours to charge up the battery.
But this will keep me busy, and most of all .....warm, because I am using my muscles.
I will use this system during the dark winter months, I can place this small construction in a tent or snowcave.

August 2010 :First pictures from the bike on the sledge. Two small 24 volt DC motors,
which are driven by the rear wheel, will charge up two batteries. I can rotate the pedals with my legs and my arms.
This creation, which works like a generator, will be named after the mountain Tarantellen (the special mountain at my basecamp).
The name will be: The Tarangator.

See the pictures below. The Tarangator has spend a long weekend in a big freezing storage place,at -20°C. I was wondering if the belt should still work at these conditions and should have the same length.
The result was that the belt is good and that the two motors and bearings need some warming up before using them. I will use those warming packages which can be warmed up in hot water and then place them on the DC motors and the bearings, to warm up those parts.
