Sea-kayaking around South Lofoten (North Norway)

Sunday 31th August 2008: 7th day of the trip. Sunset on Navaren, paddling the East coast and camping on mountaincol (15).

Sunrise over the Lofoten mountains.

During the night the temperature was below zero on mountaintop Navaren.
There was a nice sun reflection in the sea at sunrise. I took the last pictures before my last camera-battery was getting empty.

Early morning picture.

I walked down to my kayak at Djupfjorden, packed my kayak and paddled along the east coast to the small village A. In A I did have to do a small carry over, a 200 meters walk to get in the Ag lake which is 5 meters above sea level.
I did make some equipment changes, because my car was standing here. I charged my battery for my waterproof camera, I took my other camera also with me, I make a place in front of my sea-kayak for "Harry the polarbear" and I took my big bagpack with me.

Get in point for paddling on the Ag lake.

I paddled to the end of Ag lake and walked up to the steep and very small mountaincol (15). I knew, from a earlier trip in this area, that there is a small place for a tent just 50 meters north from this col. From here (400 meters a.s.l.) you got a beautiful view to the West and East coast.
In the evening there was still blue sky on Lofoten, but when I reached the mountaincol I saw many clouds on the ocean (west coast), so no sunset this evening. I anchored my tent with many stones, just to be sure in case of heavy wind. This place is very exposed and one of the first places where the wind starts to blow. But it was calm weather and during the night it was the same.
