Sea-kayaking around South Lofoten (North Norway)

Wednesday 27th August 2008: 3rd day of the trip. Paddling along the west coast.

Making hot water during a rainy morning.

It has probable been raining the whole night. I see new waterfalls around me.
Late in the morning it stops raining. I bring my kayak down to the sea-side on a place were I can have an easy start. 1 hour later the wind has dried my tent.

Clouds are slowly disappearing around the Lofoten Mountains.

Here is good to see that you can't stop everywhere along the Lofoten westcoast.

The sun is coming back again.

I only have to paddle today 6 km to get to the beautiful sand beach Buneset.
I reached the beach without any problems and a good breaking wave brought me and my sea-kayak on the sand.

Nice view beside the sea-kayak.

The beautiful sandbeach Buneset (point 7).

I have been at this place before, I knew that there was a place where I could find drinking water. But now, after so much rain, there was water everywhere.
I placed my tent between some sand hills and collected some firewood to dry a little bit.

Campsite at Buneset.

Drying my clothes in the wind.

The sun was still shining and I went out, with a empty sea-kayak now, for some playing in the breaking waves. Surfing on the breaking waves was fun. What I didn't expected did happen: One breaking wave was high enough to lift my sea-kayak up for a 90 degree looping. A nice way to end my sea-kayaking at the west coast.
In the evening I managed to get the wet fire wood burning, and enjoyed the heat of this campfire and the nice views here for some hours.

Nice campfire during the evening.
