May 2011:
For a small update what happened in the month April: see my Twitter.
After my return to Spitsbergen in the end of March I did a lot of snowdigging during the first week of April at my depots to get the equipment which was needed for guiding the 12 days trips during the half of April.
After seeing that 4 Polarbears were at my basecamp (1 female with 3 young) I split my basecamp equipment in four and burried it under the snow at four places.
I haven't been back at my basecamp, but I will be there next Saterday 7th of May.
The first thing to do when I return at Thursday 5th of May is to camp a couple of days at Hogland Lake, before it is to late and the ice on the lake gets to wet. It is an amazing place.
Other things to do in May:
Bringing up all the equipment (which I need at my basecamp) from the depot (at fjord level) to my basecamp.
Lucky for my it is getting colder (freezing at sealevel).
I will do small ski trips of several days around my basecamp when the snow is starting to melt at sealevel.
In June I will ski-up my two white water kayaks to their get in points where I wants to start to paddle the 2 first rivers in July.
If there is time left in May/June I would like to ski up north for a long ski tour.
One of my depots: 5 pulks (sledges) were in this depot, some snowdigging was needed to get them up!
My tent at basecamp with the broken poles and the "polarbears footprint" right under.
Me, under the Mittag-Leffler glacier at Hoglandlake!!
Glacier crossing in Adventdalen between the Dron- and Moysalen glaciers.
The fjord at Longyearbyen.
Snow building up against the tent.
More then 1 meter new snow between the tent and the snowwall.
My Polarbear at the start of the Ski-Marathon.
Perfect tracks at the Ski-Marathon.
Me and "Harry the Polarbear" at the Ski-Marathon.
